README -- Describes contents of CHEM_INPUTS/FAST_JX/v2019-04 10 Apr 2019 GEOS-Chem Support Team geos-chem-support@g.harvard.edu Overview: =============================================================================== This directory contains information for input into the FAST-JX photolysis mechanism. Files: =============================================================================== FJX_j2j.dat: -- Contains information to link GEOS-Chem chemical species to Fast-JX species. For more details on the contents of this file see: http://wiki.seas.harvard.edu/geos-chem/index.php/FAST-JX_v7.0_photolysis_mechanism#FJX_j2j.dat ######################################################################## ### NOTE: The FJX_j2j.dat file in FAST_JX/v2018-09 had duplicate ### ### entries for ClNO2 (entries #21 and #101). This was a typo. ### ### ### ### We have thus removed the duplicate entry #101 from the ### ### FJX_j2j.dat file in this folder, which is used by GEOS-Chem ### ### 12.3.2 and later versions. ### ### ### ### As a result of removing the duplicate entry for ClNO2, the ### ### number of photolyzed GEOS-Chem species listed in FJX_j2j.dat ### ### has been reduced by 1, from 130 to 129. In GEOS-Chem 12.3.2 ### ### and later versions, the parameter JVN_ in CMN_FJX_MOD.F has ### ### likewise been changed from 130 to 129 to be consistent with ### ### this update. ### ### ### ### All of the other files in this folder have been copied ### ### untouched from the ../v2018-09 folder. ### ### ### ### -- Bob Yantosca (yantosca@seas.harvard.edu), 10 Apr 2019 ### ######################################################################## FJX_spec.dat -- Contains FAST-JX cross sections. jv_spec_mie.dat -- Contains aerosol optical properties at 5 wavelengths. brc.dat dust.dat org.dat so4.dat soot.dat ssa.dat ssc.dat h2so4.dat -- Contains aerosol optical properties for: brc : brown carbon dust : dust org : organic carbon so4 : sulfate soot : black carbon ssa : accumulation-mode sea salt aerosol ssc : coarse-mode sea salt aerosol h2so4 : sulfuric acid (UCX-based mechanisms only) The properties are provided at multiple wavelengths to be used in the online calculation of the aerosol optical depth diagnostics. Up to three wavelentghs can be selected in the Radiation Menu of input.geos. These properties are also used for in the RRTMG radiative transfer model (if enabled).
