README -- Describes contents of PARANOX_201202 directory 07 Feb 2012 GEOS-Chem Support Team geos-chem-support@g.harvard.edu Files: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (1) FracNOx_binary_5hrs_20gs.dat: File contaning the fraction of NOx remaining for ship emissions [unitless] (2) IntOPE_binary_5hrs_20gs.dat: File containing integrated Ozone Production Efficiency for ship emissions [molec O3 produced / molec NOx lost] NOTE: These files are in flat binary format (NOT bpch format!). We may try to convert these to netCDF at a later date. Recently I got an email from Melissa asking about the status of my update. I think my code is ready to be incorporated in the GEOS-Chem model. I'm not sure what the standard approach for this is, I've created a patch file between my standard model v8-03-02 and the version with the new ship emissions approach. I've attached an Appendix from a report I wrote a year ago, which contains some more information about how the method is programmed. I'm aware that some routines might need to be moved to new files (e.g. the interpolation of the Look-Up-Table is now done in icoads_ship_mod.f), please let me know if you need any help with this. Also please let me know if you need any other source files. I've also attached the look-up-tables. The reference for my work has been published today: http://www.atmos-chem-phys.net/11/11707/2011/acp-11-11707-2011.html Kind regards, Geert Vinken
