README -- describes the contents of HEMCO/AEIC/v2015-01 17 Apr 2015 GEOS-Chem Support Team geos-chem-support@g.harvard.edu with MIT Laboratory for Aviation and the Environmnent seastham@mit.edu Overview: ============================================================================== The data was prepared by Nick Simone and converted to netCDF file format by Sebastian David Eastham. Christoph Keller (ckeller@seas.harvard.edu) further converted the netCDF file for compatibility with HEMCO. Files: ============================================================================== (1) AEIC.nc -- Contains arrays fuelBurn, NOx, HC and CO (360,180,49), which is placed on the GENERIC GRID at 1x1 degree resolution and resolved vertically in 60.96 m increments for the first 304.8 m, and then 304.8 m increments thenceforth. The data is based on the Aircraft Emissions Inventory Code (AEIC), based on 2005 scheduling data. There are 12 files, with X corresponding to the month of the year. -- Sebastian David Eastham (seastham@mit.edu) (2) aeic_vertregrid.py -- Python script that you can use to vertically regrid the AEIC.nc file to other vertical resolutions (e.g. GEOS-Chem, GCAP, etc.) (3) AEIC.47L.gen.1x1.nc -- These are the AEIC emissions remapped onto GEOS-Chem levels. Script aeic_vertregrid.py was used to remap the original data onto the GEOS-Chem grid and to convert units from kg/s to kg/m2/s. %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% %%%%% USE THIS FILE FOR GEOS-CHEM SIMULATIONS %%%%% %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Resolution : GENERIC 1 x 1 grid (360 x 180 boxes) Units : kg/m2/s Timestamps : Monthly, 2005/01 thru 2005/12 Compression: Level 1 (e.g. nccopy -d1) References: ============================================================================== Please see this wiki page: http://wiki.geos-chem.org/Aircraft_emissions#MIT_aviation_emissions_inventory
