README -- Describes contents of HEMCO/CO2/v2014-09/FOSSIL 04 Sep 2015 GEOS-Chem Support Team geos-chem-support@g.harvard.edu Overview: =============================================================================== This data directory contains updated annual and monthly fossil fuel CO2 emissions and scale factors from different sources as described below. Files: =============================================================================== CDIAC_CO2.monthly.generic.1x1.nc -- Monthly Carbon Dioxide Information Analysis Center (CDIAC) emissions version 2014 (no internatonal bunker fuels) obtained from R.J. Andres Resolution : GENERIC 1 x 1 grid (360 x 180 boxes) Units : kg/m2/s Timestamps : Monthly, 2000/01 thru 2014/12 Compression : Level 1 (e.g. nccopy -d1) %%%%% NOTE from Ray Nassar (04 Sep 2015) %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% 1) CDIAC gridded fossil fuel emissions v2014 for 1980-2014. I originally said that this file would follow very soon after the May CO2 update, but it took Bob Andres a long time to get the data ready since he was busy and I guess it was more labour intensive for him than I initially realized. (Note, although I simply call this “CDIAC”, CDIAC v2014 actually ends in 2011 and for 2012-2014, I have scaled CDIAC year 2011 based on the BP Statistical Review of World Energy.) %%%%% NOTE from Ray Nassar (04 Sep 2015) %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% ODIAC_CO2.monthly.generic.1x1.nc -- Monthly Open-source Data Inventory for Anthropogenic CO2 (ODIAC) emissions version 2013 (no internatonal bunker fuels) obtained directly from Tom Oda Resolution : GENERIC 1 x 1 grid (360 x 180 boxes) Units : kg/m2/s Timestamps : Monthly, 2000/01 thru 2014/12 Compression : Level 1 (e.g. nccopy -d1) Aviation_SurfCorr_SclFac.1x1.nc -- Domestic Aviation Surface Correction Unitless Scale Factors to remove the Resolution : GENERIC 1 x 1 grid (360 x 180 boxes) Units : 1 (aka "unitless") Timestamps : 2004/01/01 Compression : Level 1 (e.g. nccopy -d1) TIMES_diurnal_scale_factors.nc -- Temporal Improvements for Modeling Emissions (TIMES) diurnal scale factors from Ray Nassar Resolution : GENERIC 0.25 x 0.25 grid (1440 x 720 boxes) Units : 1 (aka "unitless") Timestamps : Hourly, 2006/01/01 00 GMT thru 2006/01/01 24:00 GMT Compression : Level 1 (e.g. nccopy -d1) TIMES_weekly_scale_factors.nc -- Temporal Improvements for Modeling Emissions (TIMES) weekly scale factors from Ray Nassar Resolution : GENERIC 0.25 x 0.25 grid (1440 x 720 boxes) Units : 1 (aka "unitless") Timestamps : Daily, 2006/01/01 thru 2006/01/07 Compression : Level 1 (e.g. nccopy -d1) References: =============================================================================== CDIAC Andres.
