Source: ------- air*.4x5 files were created with the FORTRAN program ~bmy/archive/data/aircraft_NOx_200203/4x5_geos using raw data obtained by Yuhang Wang for the baseline year 1992. Raw data files are stored on tape since they are somewhat large. Contact Bob Yantosca (bmy@io.harvard.edu) if you need to access these files. Notes: ------ (1) air*4x5 files are read into GEOS-CHEM by routine "readair" of the F90 module "aircraft_nox_mod.f". (2) The data are in a kind of weird unit: [kg NOx/4 hours]. This was the way that Yuhang Wang implemented the original code in the GISS-II model. The GISS-II model had a 4-hour timestep so Yuhang adapted the emissions from kg/day to kg/4h by dividing by 6. Since the same routines were ported as-is into the GEOS-CHEM, the unit of [kg NOx/4h] stuck. This is later converted to [molec NOx/s] in the GEOS-CHEM code correctly.
