(3) aerosol.geos4.2x25      : 2 x 2.5 aerosol fields for GEOS-4 vertical grid
(4) aerosol.geoss.2x25.1996 : 2 x 2.5 aerosol fields for GEOS-STRAT vertical
                               grid and for the specific year 1996
(5) aerosol.geoss.2x25.1997 : 2 x 2.5 aerosol fields for GEOS-STRAT vertical
                               grid and for the specific year 1997

All files are in binary punch format.

These files were supplied to us as flat binary files at GEOS-STRAT 2 x 2.5 
resolution by Mian Chin (GSFC).  Bob Yantosca converted these into binary 
punch files for GEOS-CHEM input.

Each file contains monthly mean fields for the following aerosol types:

	SO4: Sulfate
	BC1: Hydrophobic black carbon
	BC2: Hydrophilic black carbon
	OC1: Hydrophobic organic carbon
	OC2: Hydrophilic organic carbon
	SS1: Sea salt (0.1  - 0.5 um)
	SS2: Sea salt (0.5 -  1.5 um)
	SS3: Sea salt (1.5 -  5.0 um)
	SS4: Sea salt (5.0 - 10.0 um) 

The GEOS-STRAT 2 x 2.5 aerosol fields for 1996 were then regridded vertically
to the GEOS-1, GEOS-3, and GEOS-4 grids 2 x 2.5 grid by the code:

	~bmy/IDL/regrid/regridv_aerosol.pro

The GEOS-1, GEOS-STRAT, GEOS-3 and GEOS-4 files at 2 x 2.5 vertical resolution
were then regridded to 4 x 5 resolution by the IDL code:

	~bmy/IDL/regrid/regridh_aerosol.pro


Notes:
------
(1) aerosol.geos.* files are read into GEOS-CHEM by routine "rdaer.f".
