README -- Contents of pco_lco_200203/ Bob Yantosca bmy@io.harvard.edu 18 Dec 2003 Files: ------ COloss.geos1.2x25 : Files containing monthly mean 2-D stratospheric loss rates COloss.geos3.2x25 : of CO [s^-1] for the GEOS-1, GEOS-3, and GEOS-STRAT COloss.geos4.2x25 : 2 x 2.5 grids. This data is needed for the simple COloss.geoss.2x25 stratospheric chemistry, the tagged CO chemistry, and the CO-OH chemistry. COprod.geos1.2x25 : Files containing monthly mean 2-D stratospheric production COprod.geos3.2x25 : rates of CO [v/v/s] for the GEOS-1, GEOS-3, and COprod.geos4.2x25 : GEOS-STRAT 2 x 2.5 grids. This data is needed for the COprod.geoss.2x25 simple stratospheric chemistry, the tagged CO chemistry, and the CO-OH chemistry. All files are in binary punch format. Source: ------- The data was taken from the 2-D (lat, alt) stratospheric model of Hans Schnieder and Dylan Jones. The original data, which comes in bins of 5 degrees latitude and on 36 pressure levels is stored in the file: ~bmy/archive/data/pco_lco_200203/raw/CO.P_L.data and was regridded to GEOS-CHEM 2 x 2.5 and 4 x 5 grids by the IDL code: ~bmy/IDL/regrid/regridvh_pco_lco.pro Notes: ------ (1) COloss.geos*.2x25 and COprod.geos*.2x25 are read into GEOS-CHEM by various routines, including "CO_strat_pl.f", "schem.f", "tagged_co_mod.f", and "read_COPminusL.f". (2) The P(CO) and L(CO) rates are applied in the stratosphere to prevent concentrations of CO from building up there to unrealistic values.
