README -- Contents of tagged_CO_200106/ Bob Yantosca bmy@io.harvard.edu 22 Mar 2004 Files: ------ acetone.geos.2x25 : Contains monthly mean acetone emissions from grasslands, and from biogenic sources, for the TAGGED CO simulation. ch3oh96.geos.2x25 : Surface concentrations of CH3OH, ISOPRENE, and isop96.geos.2x25 : MONOTERPENES from 1996, supplied by Bryan Duncan. mono96.geos.2x25 : tagco_mask.geos.2x25 : Country mask for ICARTT tagged CO (1=USA/Canada, 2=Mexico, 3=Europe, 4=Asia) Files are in binary punch format. Source: ------- Acetone emissions data in "acetone.geos.4x5" was taken from a 4 x 5 GEOS-CHEM simulation for the year 1994 done by Brendan Field. The 4 x 5 data were then regridded to 2 x 2.5 and 1 x 1 resolution by Bob Yantosca. The data in the files "ch3oh96.geos.2x25", "isop96.geos.2x25", and "mono96.geos.2x25" were implemented by Bryan Duncan because the GEOS-3 surface temperatures caused the biogenic emissions of these molecules to be too high. To prevent this error, fields taken from 4 x 5 GEOS-STRAT simulations were used. (These were regridded to 2 x 2.5 by Bob Yantosca.) Bryan Duncan has since abandoned this approach, so these files are not used anymore by the standard CO simulation. The "tagco_mask.geos.2x25" file was created with IDL program ~bmy/IDL/regrid/regridh_tagco_mask.pro The original data file (1 x 1.25 resolution, F77 unformatted binary) was provided by Eric Nielsen at GMAO (nielsen@gmao.gsfc.nasa.gov) and is stored at this location at Harvard: ~bmy/archive/data/tagged_CO_200106/1x125_geos/tagco_mask.f77_unf Notes: ------
