README -- Describes contents of HEMCO/MASKS/v2018-09 directory 24 Jan 2023 GEOS-Chem Support Team geos-chem-support@g.harvard.edu Overview: =============================================================================== This directory contains the various mask files needed for certain regional emissions inventories. Files: =============================================================================== All mask files have units of "1" (aka "unitless") unless otherwise specified. India_mask.generic.1x1.nc -- Mask file for use with the mercury Indian emissions Resolution : GENERIC 1 x 1 grid (360 x 180 boxes) Timestamps : 1985/01 Compression : Level 1 (e.g. nccopy -d1) Chunking : nccopy -c lon/360,lat/180,time/1 NOTE: This file contains the same data as in ../v2018-09, but the "valid_range" attribute has been removed from all variables. This was causing GCHP to hang with an error. Ben Auer at GMAO wrote: Te India_mask.generic.1x1.nc file has something wonky with the valid_range attributes. Our new netcdf layer can’t understand them or at least what type they are. For example the valid_range for time and MASK variables are short integers. In any case I simply deleted the valid range attributes from the all the variables in the file and the file was able to be digested by our IO layer and processed by ExtData. -- Bob Yantosca (16 May 2019)
